Considering that radiator may still be new to many people, we provide ten common questions and answers about radiator for you to get started.
1. how can i drain my radiator?
2. bubbles in radiator not head gakset?
are you absolutely sure that you are bleeding the system right? If so then you have a cracked head then,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
3. which is more efficient radiator or gas furnace?
I concur with William, and I will add this: Think about that for a moment Jess; a radiator depends on convection to do all the work. A furnace at least has a fan to distribute and break up the cool, dense air. Getting the air moving is key here. In the winter I always advise posters to place a small fan blowing across the radiator to bring about the same results.
4. Radiator question?
I have never seen such answers from "mechaniks?" If you do not know do not confuse the answer with false info. Radiators circulate from the BOTTOM ^ ^ ^ UP^ ^ ^. Where did anyone learn the opposite ?? Hot water rises so circulation goes up. The water pump is bolted to the engine so how could it possibly pump from the top down ?? I think you may have a broken impeller in your water pump. There were some plastic ones a few years back and they may be doing it again. You do not mention your vehicle info. so it's hard to tell
5. Feeling Flushed â Best Radiator Flushes
There's solid evidence in the comment section of this august publication that we (the collective we, which includes readers and authors) have held the keys to a horrible car or two at some point in their automotive career. A quick headcount in the official TTAC Slack chat reveals humans with a propensity to own decrepit Miata convertibles and Lincoln coupes alike. This helps explain why the occasional need to flush the crap out of a radiator is not unknown to TTAC writers and readers. These products reside somewhere in between simply hooking a garden hose up to a tired rad while blasting tap water through the thing and actually buying a functional replacement. Ah, who are we kidding? Any replacement parts would surely come from a junkyard. From time to time, TTAC will highlight automotive products we think may be of interest to our community. Plus, posts like this help to keep the lights on around here.Learn more about how this works.
6. Radiator question ...?
might be u r radiator cap be blown off or else check for the radiator nut
7. How much coolant needs to be added to radiator?
If you are putting 4 oz of fluid in the cooling system "every day," it is obviously going somewhere! If you have a blown cylinder head gasket, it will be disappearing down the tail pipe as steam and you wo not see it.The cooling system (including the radiator) should be completely full of fluid. When it heats up and expands the excess goes into the overflow tank and the level rises from the cold to the hot mark. When the engine cools down the coolant should be going back from the expansion tank into the radiator.Check the level in the expansion tank visually when the engine is hot - but do not remove any filler caps till it has cooled down, because if you release the pressure the fluid may boil and spray you with very hot liquid!
8. Radiator Coolant Leak
I am not sure you should trust to intuition here :-)I would not expect the leak to be due to the oil in the system. Instead I would see both as symptoms of the more general problem of things wearing out. I am concerned they did not source a new oil pump - without it, parts of the engine or coolant system may overheat and this could lead to leaks such as the ones you have seen. I would request a full check of the cooling system, including replacement of any faulty hoses or components, a replacement oil pump, and a repair or replacement of the radiator
9. causes for radiator fluid leak?
Technically its not only radiator fluid but coolant for the block, heads, heater core and hoses. You find the real leak by looking fo it. Antifreeze and water evaporates very slowly. Where ever there a track you will find the souse of the leak. When cars and trucks pass 12 years of age heater-cores and radiators fail even though they've had the best of regular maintenance.
