Can I Learn How to Fix Motors Through Books, Or Should I Have Someone Teach Me?

You can always learn something from a book. How much will depend upon you.... Certainly the operational concepts of how a motor works is already available in many publications. Understanding these fundamentals will aid you in the diagnosis (trouble shooting) of a motor. How will you determine what is wrong if you do not know how its supposed to work? You can also (read) learn how to identify parts of a motor and there function. (Starter, Water Pump, valves , pistons, ECM) Understanding the fundamentals of how an engine and its individual components work together is the basis of developing sound diagnostic skills. Having good diagnostic skills is required to effectively repair a motor. You do not want to be a hit or miss mechanic randomly replacing items hoping to get it right, do you? The complexity of the repair is also a factor as to weather or not you would be able to just "read about it". For example changing spark plugs compared to replacing a starter or water pump compared to performing a valve job. Each type of repair has its own set of complexities some of which are not necessarily documented in a procedure as it is assumed the mechanic has some experience. Experience is a great teacher and compliments the book information. Start swinging wrenches on small simple tasks and you will gain experience and confidence to tackle the larger more complex tasks.

1. What's wrong with my car!?

Valves usually are the cause of ticking sounds in an engine. Sometime it will just need an adjustment. Sometimes it needs a valve job. This is where the head and valves are removed. Cleaned and ground so that they seat properly without the chatter (ticking)

2. What to do about different rooms in the house being a completely different temperature?

If you only have a single thermostat / HVAC zone it will be difficult to maintain a precisely uniform temperature across many rooms, but it sounds like your system needs to be balanced.Balancing is the process of adjusting dampers and valves so that the rooms heat and cool evenly. An unbalanced room will blow too much cold (or hot) air into one room and not enough in another. Since you mention AC I assume you have forced air heat and central air, in which case the balancing process involves adjusting dampers at each register and/or in the ducts. You can hire a company to do it, or buy 5 or 10 thermometers and do it yourself. You also need to make sure that air is circulating properly throughout the house. There should be at least one large "return" vent that collects air to return to the HVAC. When the system is on you can hold a piece of paper up to a vent to see which direction the air is going (your hand is surprisingly bad at telling airflow direction). There may be one return register per floor, or possibly even one in every room. In any event, you need to make sure not only that the conditioned air is reaching each room but that it can get back to the HVAC unit. Closing doors makes this worse, obviously

3. How do you adjust the valves correctly so the "popping" stops?

By far the most important thing you did not mention is weather it has hydraulic or solid lifters!!!!!

4. What is best way to clean engine? Valves are sticking on Briggs & Stratton lawn mower engine?

If your valves are sticking you may have left the mower out in the weather. A worn valve guide will also make it stick. By taking the head off and the small cover on the side of the engine where you see the breather hose come out you can take the valve out and clean them on a wire wheel. When I put them back in I use a little STP on the valve stem. Wal_Mart sells a small engine repair manual. I do not know how good it is, but it should help you. You can try to library too for a manual

5. How Far Up To Sprinklers Valves Have to Be Installed?

I suggest you leave them alone and try to disguise them with plants or other method

What Are the Protection Methods for the Corrosion of Explosion-proof Electric Valves
What Are the Protection Methods for the Corrosion of Explosion-proof Electric Valves
Corrosion of explosion-proof electric valve is generally understood as the damage of metal materials of explosion-proof electric valve in chemical or electrochemical environment. "Corrosion" occurs in the spontaneous interaction between metal and surrounding environment. Therefore, separating metal from surrounding environment or using more non-metallic synthetic materials is the key to prevent corrosion. Explosion proof electric valves (including valves) account for most of the weight of explosion-proof electric valves and are often in contact with the media, so explosion-proof electric valves are often selected. There are no more than two forms of valve corrosion: chemical corrosion and electrochemical corrosion. The corrosion rate is determined by the temperature, pressure, chemical characteristics and corrosion resistance of the valve material. The corrosion rate can be divided into six categories.1. Complete corrosion resistance 3360, corrosion rate less than 0.001mm/year;2. Limit corrosion prevention: the corrosion rate is 0.001 0.01mm/year;3. Corrosion resistance: corrosion development rate: 0.01 0.1mm/year;4. Corrosion resistance: corrosion rate: 0.1 1.0mm/year5. Corrosion resistance decreases: corrosion rate is 1.0 10mm / year;6. Corrosion resistance: the corrosion rate is greater than 10mm per year. The anti-corrosion of valve body is mainly the correct selection of materials. This is because, although there are abundant data on anti-corrosion, sulfuric acid has strong corrosivity to steel and can form passive film at low concentration to resist corrosion. The corrosion problem is very complex. Hydrogen is highly corrosive to steel only at high temperature and high pressure. Goats do not corrode much when they are dry, but many materials cannot be used when there is a certain humidity. The difficulty in selecting valve materials is that we should not only consider corrosion, but also consider pressure resistance, temperature resistance, economy and purchase convenience. So you have to devote yourself wholeheartedly. The following are the lining measures of lead lining, aluminum lining, engineering plastic lining, natural rubber lining and various synthetic rubber. If the media conditions allow, it is the save method. Thirdly, when the pressure and temperature requirements are not high, using non-metal as the main structural material of the valve market will often carry out anti-corrosion very actively and effectively. In addition, the external surface of the valve is also subject to atmospheric corrosion. Generally, steel materials are protected with seals.fqj
How Do People Take Out There Engines at Such Low of Mileage?
How Do People Take Out There Engines at Such Low of Mileage?
Engines become useless is they are run at low oil levels. Overheated motors warp cylinder-walls and reduce tension of piston rings. Too much ignition timing, lean fuel mixtures burn pistons or valves. Touching-off a street engine does not hurt anything if it has been maintained properly. 302 Z-28 Camaros could run at 7,500 RPM and not hurt a thing. Becareful not to redline any motor with many miles on it. Valve springs get weak and the lifters can not follow the cam lobes. Pretty soon you will get valve to piston interference.1. Replace cartridge of valve for showerLooks like you have shut off valves built in (second picture) the flat head screws on either side of the lower handle. you can shut them off and remove the cartridge to take it to a plumbing supply and they should be able to tell you. Looking at the 2nd photo, it appears that the hot side is shut off or at least partially shut off. Try opening the valve and see if that helps2. the doc told me i have 4 valves leaking !how and what do i do?NO Booze3. My washer is overflowing. I hit stop button water still keeps coming out.Turn the shut off valves in the? There should be a couple of hoses coming out of the back of the washer, those should be connected to a couple of valves, turn them off. If you can not find them or they are not there, call a plumber4. Replacing water valves for bathroom sinkFirst, I do not think you would have to change the valves. The photos do not show it well (and everything is very dirty), but the outlet connections are probably threaded and will accept appropriate hoses or compression fitting parts. Anyway, it wo not hurt to replace them. You seem to have half-inch copper supplies and sweated (soldered) valve connections. The first valve you show should be correct. It has a compression fitting that mates to the copper supply once you cut the old valve off and clean up the pipe. A good alternative recommended in the comments is the new crop of push-on fittings, such as those from Sharkbite. When installed on properly prepared pipe they are considered reliable. You will remove the nut and the tapered brass washer from the valve and slip those over the pipe. Slide the valve onto the pipe until it bottoms out, then bring the brass washer up to it. Thread the nut on and tighten it fairly snugly, but not crazy tight, keeping the valve all the way on the pipe. Be sure to support the valve so as to not apply force to the pipe. Use a wrench on the valve body and one on the nut. No tape or dope is required. The brass and copper deform to create the seal. This procedure is undoubtedly covered a thousand times on the web, so give it a search if you would like more detail or a video. Now you will simply install either smooth lines using the compression fitting or a washered supply hose to the valve output.5. Hot water is not hot enough after the water main was replaced. Why?You call the same plumber and tell him that supposed to be so is not good enough. He needs to be sure it IS so. Whenever you mess with the plumbing it knocks loose all kinds of stuff that was in the pipes and is now somewhere else. the crap can be building up and clogging your faucet filters, valves, and shower head. He should have flushed the lines at yours or anybody elses places after chnaging out the pipe(s). What about your bath tub? does it have better water flow and stya hot longer?6. 1996 VW Golf Distributor rotor is not turning? The distributor is driven off of the camshaft. You have a bad camshaft timing chain. Some engines use a belt instead of a chain. Either way this has failed and your camshaft is no longer rotating. Hopefully all you need to do is to replace the timing chain or belt. However you may have more problems. Many modern engines are whats called interference engines. This means that the valve timing is critical to have the open valves clear the pistons. On an interference engine when the timing chain or belt breaks the piston crashes into any open valves. This will cause severe internal engine damage. It destroys valves, pistons, cylinder head, and can damage the cylinder wall. This type of damage is very expensive to repair. Sometimes the only thing you can do is to replace the engine. This should be investigated before you replace the timing belt or chain. No point in going through the expense of replacing these items if the engine is destroyed. If the engine has this severe engine you may want to evaluate if it is worth spending a lot of money to repair a 13 year old car.

That looks like you need to push the valve in from the back (i.e. put your thumb on the tire side and push towards the rim so that the valve portrudes more out) because the tire pressure is low. Then, hook on the pump and start pumping. Otherwise, you can start with whatever pump you have and buy an extension hose or valve extender. The type of valve on there is a Schrader valve1. Why are ball valves spherical instead of cylindrical? [closed]Stopcocks use a cylindrical axle.Ball valves use less metal and are more reliable because the seal is a simple circle, whereas in a stopcock an entire surface has to mate.As far as machining is concerned, it is cheaper to make a ball than to make a cylinder of the same diameter and the same finish grade2. Why arenu2019t I getting any heat in my car even though I've changed the thermostat, housing and pressure cap? Any ideas? If the engine is heating up to normal temperature, then the problem has to be in the heating system.A collapsed or kinked hose to the heater core will stop hot coolant from getting to where it's needed. Some cars have valves where the hoses come off the block to the heater core. Make sure they're open. Some vehicles have a vacuum operated valve that turns the coolant flow on to the core, it looks like this. If your car has one, have someone turn the heat on and off and make sure it's moving .The heater core could be cloggedIf both hoses, to and from the core are hot, then the core is getting hot. The problem then is most likely the blend door. The blend door swings between the hot air and cold air sides of the system. If it is stuck in the cold position, you only get cold air. In this diagram the blend door is in the middle. It is a common problem when heat suddenly fails.Check these and best of luck. Why aren't I getting any heat in my car even though I've changed the thermostat, housing and pressure cap? How It Works: Check Valves | Schlumberger
How It Works: Check Valves | Schlumberger
Swing (tilting-disc) check valves consist of a clapper with a disc that is convex on the upstream inlet side and flat on the downstream outlet side. For API Spec 600 valves, this disc swings on a hinge that is mounted to the bottom of the valve bonnet. For API Spec 6D valves, the typical construction is a cast pocket in the valve body with a drop-in shaft or pin-and-bushing arrangement that the clapper will turn on. This type of construction requires some sort of restraint to keep the clapper in the pocket. The new design features improved modularity and facilitates easier assembly, enabling different configurations to be assembled with a base design. Nozzle (axial flow) check valves have a spring-loaded disc that translates horizontally. The spring allows for a nonslam design in that the effects of water hammer are eliminated. These are designed to be in the full open position, even at minimum flow rate, to ensure performance. Nozzle check valves can be installed in both buried and above-grade applications and are ideal for gas applications. Ball check valves include a spherical ball clapper that is sometimes spring loaded to seal at pressures below the cracking pressure. Because of the spherical design, these valves can easily wear from prolonged use and require frequent maintenance; therefore, they should be installed in places that are easy for repair teams to access. Diaphragm check valves consist of a rubber diaphragm clapper that flexes open when the pressure on the upstream side is greater than the pressure on the downstream side and closes when this pressure is equalized or lowered below a set pressure differential. Stop check valves are usually constructed similar to a swing check valve but have an additional external control mechanism-such as an actuator, lever, or handwheel-that enables the valve to be deliberately closed regardless of flow pressure. Duckbill valves enable flow to proceed through a soft tube that feeds into the downstream side of the valve wherein backpressure collapses the tube and cuts off the flow. The main advantage of a check valve is its simple design. Generally, check valves also are smaller and easier to install compared with other valve types, making maintenance easier and more efficient. Check valves can be designed with specific nonslam features to reduce noise and seal wear. ENTECH nozzle check valves are commonly selected for this feature in LNG pump stations and gas compressor stations. Additionally, because of their simple, streamlined design, TOM WHEATLEY check valves and ENTECH check valves have lower pressure drops (less than 1 psi) than comparable piston check valves.• Other Related Knowledge ofthe valves— — — — — —What is difference between ball valves and butterfly valve? The differences are HUGE; nevertheless, I will do my best to answer the question fairly. A ball valve gets its name from its design; it is quite literally a ball with a hollow bore in the center of a valve which—through its rotation either manually by a lever, or automated through utilizing of an actuator—will allow for a media to be passed through or regulated through the valves inlet and outlet. Conversely, a butterfly valve, uses a thin, flat central-disc that allows for the valve to be opened or closed. This center disc is actually what is commonly referred to as the "butterfly."— — — — — —How to adjust power window on a 1995 Acura Integra Sedan Special Edition? There are tons of pros on this car. The cons are rather basic like not very roomy in the back, and valve adjustments are needed every 30,000 miles. Make sure you look into whether or not the valves have been adjusted. Many people are not aware of this because so many cars have self-adjusting valves. Anyway, the B18B engine in these are turbo friendly, and you can put a GSR head on the engine that will give you all of the benefits of a GSR but with more torque because the B18B in the Special has a bigger pistons than the GSR. If you go the head swap right, make sure you have it done by someone who really knows how to do this swap. I've seen some masterpieces built and I've seen some horror stories as well. Overall, you can not go wrong wioth this car. They are crazy reliable. You could get 300,000 miles out of a stock one easily
My Hot and Cold Water Are Connected in the Output of My Water Heater
My Hot and Cold Water Are Connected in the Output of My Water Heater
This is a thermostatic mixing valve, and it is a beneficial and useful thing to have. The temperature of the water in the tank heater should be 140 F to prevent the growth of Legionellae bacteria, but this is in general too hot for most uses in the house. The solution is to mix cold water into the hot to bring the temperature in the distribution system down to a lower temp, usually 120 F. Lowering the temperature in the hot water delivery system also increases the service life of valves and piping. Some of these valves are designed and specified to be installed at or near the hot water heater, others were designed to service only a single use point, usually a shower. I believe the later type is not much used anymore because all modern shower valves have a thermostatic mixing valve incorporated into the valve. For example, Watts thermostatic mixing valve.EDIT BTW this water heater is apparently plumbed with copper all the way to the tank. At one time this was considered the first rate way to plumb it, but no longer is. The reason is because this makes a conducting connection between the steel WH tank and the copper plumbing. This can cause accelerated corrosion of the water heater or the copper plumbing. Much better and easier is to use bendable supply connections which have a so called "dielectric coupling" meaning the tank and plumbing are insulated from each other. Also you should have a cut-off valve in the cold water inlet to the WH. I believe it should be located ahead of the T for cold supply to the thermostatic mixing valve, but I am not positive and you had better check on this with someone experienced in plumbing with TMVs1. How hard would it be for a clarinet player to learn how to play a brass instrument?First of all, I think it's a great thing to join drum corps. I have not done it before, but I hope you enjoy it!! Your embouchure will have to change COMPLETELY. This will be difficult, but definitely not impossible. The new embouchure you will ahve to form will probably be harder than the one you are used to. The fingerings will be different, but I think they will be a bit simpler. Clarinet fingerings are more complex, where as brass instruments push down valves. [I am in NO way saying the brass is harder or that woodwinds are harder, i am just saying what i think!] What you should do is talk to your band director. Let him/her know of your future plans to join the drum&bugle corps. He will probably be more than willing to help you learn how to play a brass instrument. Perhaps you could take private lessons? They are expensive, but they are worth it if you are serious about it. Good luck!3. What is the purpose of this lever on top of an electric 2 1/2 gallon hot water heater? All water heaters must have temperature & pressure relief valves which are installed at the factory, in the event excessive thermal expansion in the tank beyond the set point of 200 * F or excessive pressure beyond the set point of 75 psi. Not familiar with your particular pool, but on my vinyl/metal frame pool I drain the filter, and remove the hoses that lead to and from the filter and pool. Make sure you leave the drain plug off the filter. In the spring, fill it up, remove the leaves etc, shock, vacuum and away you go. That's it. My above ground pool is 10 years old this year and never had a problem6. A ship is made up of metal but it floats on water. Why?This is the Archimedes principle that bears the name of the ancient Greek who discovered it. Anything that floats will displace it's exact weight of water at S.T.P. This is now a state of neutral buoyancy. A submarine is a perfect example. On the surface it floats like any other steel vessel. When it submerges, valves on ballast tanks are opened allowing seawater to rush in, compressing the air contained therein by one atmosphere absolute for every 66 feet. The amount of water displaced by the vessel, just like a sunken ship, is then less because much of the displaced water is in the ballast tanks, so the vessel sinks. When the vessel is to surface, it opens the same valves and the pressurized air will "blow" the tanks and the vessel once again floats.7. 1994 Honda Accord EX (F22B1) - Valves still making a ticking noiseSet the valve clearance with feeler gauges. A New Pulse in Bag Houses | Industry Articles | Dwyer InstrumentsWhile many pulse valves physically do not look different, the internal components have changed. Dwyer pulse valves allow for easier maintenance, as well as improved reliability.Pulse valves have always been used in dust collection bag house systems. The purpose of this valve is to provide a quick short burstof air to release particulate that is collected on the cartridge filters, used in a dust collection system. The valve is typically mounted to a manifold that would provide the needed air pressure. On most collectors you will see one valve per cartridge filter. The picture to the right displays a typical collector, filter, and valves mounted at the top of the system. The pulse valves are typically controlled by a timer control board, such as the Dwyer Series DCT600 or DCT500A , or a programmable logic controller (PLC). The timer board will cycle through each valve once a predetermined pressure drop across the filters is reached, relieving particulate from the filters to maintain a low differential pressure. Through the use of pulse valves and a timer control board, a user can maintain their system at optimum conditions allowing for longer life out of the cartridge filters. To better service dust collectors, Dwyer has released the Series DCS and RDCS Springless Diaphragm Valves. These valves combine a new springless diaphragm technology into our previous valve housing. A springless diaphragm valve combines the spring typically used for controlling the diaphragm and the valve into a single component; Dwyer uses a thermoplastic polyurethane diaphragm. The combination of these two components into a single diaphragm allows for easier field service and replacement. With using an elastomer diaphragm for air pulse control, this allows for a more reliable and consistent pulses versus the previous spring style which can change as the spring ages.To allow for all types of systems, the DCS and RDCS pulse valves are configured with both NPT process connections and coupling connections for a quicker installation. The valves can also be purchase with an integral coil/solenoid or a remote mount unit, where a solenoid valve would need to be mounted in a separate enclosure.2. 1959 Mercedes 220S,1971 Mercedes 220, fuel questions? The biggest difference is that various chemicals are used in place of tetraethyl lead. Contrary to the mythology that lead "lubricates" valves, it does nothing of the sort. What it does do is build up deposits on the valves (especially the exhaust valve), providing some insulation. Without lead, it's like a blacksmith pounding on a red hot horseshoe: the overheated valve seat can recess into the head. This is only really a problem with cast iron heads operating at high RPM, because cast iron is a poor thermal conductior. I believe all of your cars have aluminum heads with steel seats, these should be resistant to the problem. And vintage cars are rarely driven at the limits, so the valve seats wo not get as hot. You should be fine. I have several vintage cars and have never worried about unleaded fuel. However, ethanol can be a problem. If possible, you want to avoid using ethanol enhanced fuels in older cars. The reason is that older hoses and pump diaphagms tend to degrade rapidly in ethanol. If your fuel lines, carbs, and fuel pump have been redone in the last 20 years, the probability is that you are fine. But if your fuel system still has vintage rubber anywhere, beware of ethanol. I almost forgot the 240D. I've always used Mercedes Diesels as daily drivers. Most of them go hundreds of thousands of miles without a fuel related problem (as long as the fuel does not get contaminated with water and you change your filters regularly). Recently, the US went to ultra low sulfur Diesel. In raw form, ULSD has less lubricity than the old stuff, so it has the potential to cause pump failure. But the refiners (at least in the northeast) have been mixing a little biodiesel in with it. This not only increases the lubricity, it raises cetane a couple of points. So far, I've found it works better than the old stuff. We will see if there's any impact on durability.3. Are all blow off valves the same size from the gasket area ?A "Blow Off Valve"? Like for a Nitrous Oxide system? Or are you running a LPG or CNG fueled engine with a high pressure cell? Good Luck!
Teamwork IS the Dreamwork
At Mosaic, weve incorporated values into the heart of our work and not just in a vague, feel-good kind of way. In this series of blogs, weve specifically outlined eight values we strive to embody in creating a 100% workplace culture, and weve also talked about how we bring joy to our office with regular events that bring us together in profound ways. That togetherness is key to one of our favorite values: Teamwork is the Dreamwork. Were trying to build a better world, one home at a time; its a dream job, but its a big one! Great work cant be done alone, so we make sure to always trust each other and build honest relationships. This value infuses our office life in little ways every day. Its in the way we greet our fellow Mosaicians every morning, its in the respect and courtesy we always show each other, its in our embrace of shared responsibilities. But we also manifest this value in a much more focused way.It Takes a Village (Council)Every month at Mosaic we host an all-hands company meeting that we call the Village Council. Because, even as our company has grown from a handful of team members to over a hundred, at the end of the day we are still a small community that works together and relies on each other to accomplish our goals. Village Councils help us to deepen team alignment and increase engagement by strengthening interpersonal connections across departments. To tap into the 100% renewable source of motivation that powers us every day, our CEO Billy Parish leads off every Village Council by grounding us in our vision and mission: 100% clean energy for all, with millions of Americans empowered to prosper from this transition. Were also reminded of our near-term, 3-year goal of building the #1 provider of financing solutions for the modern home. Most Council meetings also include multiple speakers from different areas of the company updating the entire team on key mission metrics and how we are tracking to our quarterly OKRs (Objectives and Key Results). Many meetings also include small group breakout discussions, so that small teams have the opportunity to provide feedback and input on new products, strategy and initiatives. In addition to our business-focused agenda, there is also a lot of love in the room for these meetings. Every meeting includes values shout-outs, where team members publicly recognize each other for exhibiting one of the eight Mosaic values in the previous month. We then break into pairs, ideally with someone we dont typically work closely with, to share and reflect on the value we each want to focus on individually in the coming month. These regular check-ins help to keep our values alive and present in the fabric of our culture, while bringing us closer together around our shared mission and dreamwork. And, at the end of every Village Council, we literally come together with an all hands in rallying cry: We got this!Joining Our TeamThis teamwork is essential to making Mosaic successful, as well as making it a place where people love to work. And were proud to have kept this value foregrounded in our workplace culture even as the company has grown, thanks to institutions like Village Councils.Sound like Mosaic is the team of your dreams? Ignition Problems on a 79 Ford Bronco?
You did not mention the wires or how and were they are routed. Are you certain you have a spark problem? Have you checked the compression? Could be rings or valves. How do the plugs look? The duraspark ignition is pretty bullet proof. I would think if this were a pick up issue it would be more random but you might check the stator and rotor of the distributor. Beyond that it's parts changing. like the ignition modual. They are pretty cheap for the older vehicles. I had a problem with my 78 Ford once and it turned out to be the roll pin that secures the pick up rotor to the distributor shaft was comming out.1. How do I increase the water pressure to my cold tap in my bath?Look under the sink. Sometimes there are shut off valves under the sink. Make sure they are both open all the way2. I have some questions about my pool? Here ya go: You should know what back washing is. In your filter you have screens. The openings in the screens are not small enough to thoroughly filter the water so the water stays clear. You add diatomaceous earth (DE). DE is large enough to catch on the filter screens while allowing openings that are so small that they create a better filter for the water. The filter screens are coated with DE. Water passes through the DE & is, assuming the chemicals are correct, very clean. When you back wash, you turn the pump off & adjust the valves. Valves control the direction of the flow of water & by adjusting the valves you reverse the flow of water through the filters. By reversing the flow of water, the water washes the DE off the pool filters & the "dirty" DE is washed out of the system. 1. With regard to the effect of debris & back washing, the answer is "DEPENDS" and this is why. You only need to backwash when the pressure in your filter goes up about 6-8 pounds from the "new" back wash level. After you backwash, look at the pressure. Let's say it's at 12 pounds. When the pressure gets up to 18 to 20 pounds, then backwash as that means that the DE is 'full' and can no longer filter the water. 2. Thus, after you back wash you must re-coat the filter screens. So, the answer to your question is YES. Tou will add, per what "he" said, 6 cups. When you add the DE, you will have already re-adjusted the filter valves so the water is flowing in the normal direction. Add the DE through the skimmers by slowly pouring it into the water& stirring it up with your hand. You can also use a large bucket full of water. Pour the 6 cups of DE into the water in the bucket & stir the DE into the water. Then simply pour the solution into a skimmer. DO NOT put the DE directly into the pool as it will settle to the bottom of the pool & not get into the filters. 3. Back washing & rinsing are the same thing. 4. Yes, you need to put tablets in the automatic chlorinator. If you shocked the pool (shock is really just a ton of chlorine), wait to refurbish the chlorinator as the chlorine levels of the pool will be very high. You should monitor the chlorine level of the pool and when it gets down to around 3.0 then start putting the tablets in chlorinator. Maintain chlorine levels as close to 1.0 to 2.0 as possible. 5. If you are using chlorine tablets the pH of the pool will rise. When the pH rises you risk the accumulation of a scale or calculus inside of the pipes. If enough scale accumulates it can actually plug up the pipes. To counter that rise you add acid which lowers the pH. Ideal pH levels are from 7.2 to 7.4. You can buy the acid in most stores. It is called MURIATIC ACID (acid) and is probably cheaper than buying the product called pH MINUS. If the pH of the pool gets too low then the water is becoming acidic and that can oxidize (or corrode) the pipes. That, of course, would be a very expensive repair as would be the repair from scale build up from high pH. Although a change in pH is caused by chlorine it is not a measure of the chlorine. Both levels (chlorine and pH) must be monitored & adjusted as needed. With regard to using liquid acid vs. pH minus ...The pH minus is a bit safer to use as it comes in a granulated form as opposed to a liquid. Acid should also be added ONLY to the deep end of the pool as when added to the shallow end it might not get diluted quickly enough & by the time it reaches the bottom of the pool it is still so strong it can etch the plaster. When adding acid to the deep end, pour a small steady stream into the water while walking around the pool. It's easy to do. Personally, I used acid. It is easy to pour out of a bottle. Start off using small amounts as you can always add more. Wait an hour after the pour and test the pH. Plus acid is MUCH much less expensive than pH minus. The acid is also more easily available as it is frequently sold in grocery stores & home improvement stores as well as pool supply stores where, pH minus is rarely sold in many stores. If you were to get acid on your skin, all you do is step into the pool & rinse your skin. Just keep it away from the kids. The only reason you would need to have pH Plus around would be in case you put too much acid (or pH minus) in the pool & you need to balance the pH. However, you can also use a powder called SODA ASH, which HUGELY less expensive, instead of pH plus. One last thing, do not be frightened by what I've said about using the acid & it eating up the pipes. It takes a number of repetitions over years of abuse for the pipes to be dramatically effected.3. Why are old violins better than modern violins? You hear of old violins worth millions, why isn't it possible to make better ones with modern technology? There is not much physically you can tinker with on a violin. The most noteworthy developments were a taller bridge that could work with tighter, heavier steel strings; and a modern bow that could make a more uniform sound. Almost nothing has changed since the violin was invented in the Renaissance. Believe it or not, we do not know what a perfect violin looks like! We do not know why F-holes make a louder sound then round guitar holes, or how heavy certain parts of the resonator should be in certain places, yes really. Instrument making is much, much more an art than a science because it was not worth inventing formulas for what you can do with trial and error. So while the winds got keys, brass got valves, and theater organs put the chapel to shame, the violin has not had anywhere to go.

How do you avoid mold in a washing machine?Assuming that you have a front loading washing machine follow these steps in order to remove and prevent mold in your washing machine.Try using less detergent/fabric softener. It is recommended that you use 1 tablespoon on detergent/fabric softener to wash your clothes.Keep the door open (by having the door closed you are trapping moisture and steam inside your unit and that is why the mold is forming)Check the rubber gasket (this is the most common place where mold grows)If you are using mainly cold water to wash your clothes be sure to run a warm/how water soak for your last cycle will help dissolve the bio-film buildupClean the trap or drain pump. Items such as lint, coins, bra wires, screws that may be trapped there might be the underlining issue. It can clog your filter causing the water to drain slowly which will cause an odor or even mold to occur.VinegarTry adding a cup of vinegar directly into the gasket with your clothes and let your washer run on the longest cycle it has. You may even want to consider adding an additional cup during the rinse cycle, and your mildew stench should be gone! WHITE vinegar works best!Baking Soda!Add a cup of regular baking soda to your clothes in the wash cycle. Use the longest and hottest wash cycle you haveAffreshAffresh is specifically designed to penetrate, dissolve, and remove odor-causing residue that can accumulate in washers. Next do a wash cycle with bleach and then let the washer air out.All in all the easiest way to avoid mold in your washing machine is to keep the door/lid open as well as the fabric softener dispenser!I hope these help!------Where can I buy sand washing machine?Sand washing machine is widely used in material washing process in such industries as sand washing plant, mines, building materials, transportation, chemistry, water conservancy and hydropower, concrete batching plant and other industries, which can be divided into two types, namely XS type and Xl type. It can remove impurities covered on the surface of sand and destroy the water vapor layer that coats the sand at the same time so as to dehydrate and play a part in effectively washing and cleaning the sand. The clay washing plant can also be equipped with coarse and fine powder separator and dust removal equipment if choosing dry production process. Configuration of natural sand is relatively simple, which can be simply equipped with sand washer and belt conveyor to carry out production.Artificial sand production line is composed of jaw crusher, sand making machine, sand washing machine, belt conveyor, vibrating screen and vibrating feeder. Its production process is that the stone is evenly fed by vibrating feeder to jaw crusher for coarse crushing, coarsely crushed materials are sent to sand making machine through belt conveyor to carry out further crushing; the finely crushed materials are conveyed to vibrating screen for screening, and the materials that meet the granularity requirements of finished products are sent to sand washing machine for cleaning, the cleaned materials are called finished products. The materials that do not meet the granularity requirements of finished products will return to sand making machine through vibrating screen for re-processing. Granularity of finished products can be adjusted and classified according to requirements of customers.Highly efficient sand washing equipment is vital equipment in construction and building materials industry. Increase of efficiency of sand washer will be an important link of saving energy and resource. Sand washing machine which works coordinating with other sand making equipment plays a huge role in construction projects. The current efficient sand washing machine has more and more superior features like novel design and structure, large processing capacity, mature production technology and so on. ------Where is the best Whirlpool Washing Machine Service Center in Hyderabad?Hi,The four cycles that every Whirlpool Washing Machine like every washing machine performs are fill, wash, drain, and spin. The sweat joint was exposed in the box so I did not have to open up the drywall below the box. When I redid them I sweated on a fitting going to 1/2" FIP so I could thread in valves.I thought the new quarter turn ball valves I got from HD or Lowe's were themselves 1/2" FIP and I got a "nipple" ( 1/2" MIP x 1/2" MIP) to connect the two 1/2" FIP joints on the supply and the valve, respectively. But looking at the valve it appears that the valves are actually 1/2" MIP. I don't know if this is the best way to do this. I had a lot of trouble with getting the threaded joint to stop seeping. I can see why the professionals prefer to sweat the valve in. But for an amateur using a torch inside a wall risks starting a fire. The suggestion of using a SharkBite is a good one.EDITI said above that I had considerable trouble getting these valves to stop seeping and I think I now realize why--the threaded tubes on these long shank valves are surely straight, parallel and are not tapered! Long shanks cannot tapered. They could be tapered at the ends and straight above that, but that would show .Only short shank valves can be tapered, Short shank valves of course could be straight, but almost certainly (at least in the US) would be tapered. I redid these three times and finally got it to a very slow seep which plugged up over a week or so. But this is not an acceptable installation. These valves were probably intended for sweating 1/2" copper tubing inside the shank. The threads were probably intended for a pair of nuts to clamp it to these now ubiquitous plastic boxes------What is the best way to move my new washing machine into my basement?Obviously, paying the store to deliver is the smart way to go. That way, you aren't responsible if your expensive new washer gets damaged. Okay, I get it...you're going to do it yourself. There are a couple of options. Renting an appliance dolly makes the most sense, but you can probably make do with your standard dolly (assuming it is rated for the weight). Your washer probably weighs a little less...but within spitting distance of 200 lbs. Depending on the method you choose, the weight may be reduced by friction, but worst case is that each of you will need to lift (or hold back) no more than 100lbs.If you opt to use your regular dolly, you'll want to strap the washer to it (like on an appliance dolly). Then you get one person above, and one person below. Walk it down the stairs, one step at a time and take time to rest mid-way, if needed. Gravity will do the work. You just have to control it for 8 inches at a time. Make a few practice runs with the empty box to be sure you have the hang of going step by step, and that there is enough clearance. The last thing you need is to get stuck halfway! The other method is to slide it. In fact, just last week my wife and I slid a new water heater into the basement. I got a long 2x10 and laid it along the steps as a slide. Then we laid it down at the balance point on the top step and both of us got below it to guide it down. Friction helps reduce the weight, so it's quite manageable. Best if it's still in the box, otherwise it'll get scratched up. Sounds like the box won't fit through the door, but you could at least lay cardboard under it.------Why does my washing machine smell so bad? There are several possible reasons why your washing machine smells. The most common reason is poor maintenance. Yes, this may surprise you, but many washing machine users have no idea how to maintain their machines. Simple maintenance steps should be taken periodically to guarantee the efficiency of the machine. Simply because your machine cleans things does not mean it does not need to be cleaned - or at least looked after. Your washing machine needs as much attention as any other gadget or machine!Another possible reason why your washing machine may be smelling is if some parts of it develop a fault. Like all electrical gadgets, washing machines are prone to damage and faults. A mechanical part of it may develop some random fault which may cause the smell. What you need to do, then, is to employ the services of professionals in the field who will inspect the machine for you and ascertain what the problem is. Although a washing machine does simple things, it is a complex barrage of circuits and wires so do not attempt to 'repair' it yourself if you do not have the necessary skills and knowledge involved.New washing machines have hoses and drains that let out used water in them. When those drains are clogged, some smells may be emanating because of the residue inside the drains. That, naturally, will cause such smell. There are many things that one can do to prevent such smell.Another reason could be the installation of the washing machine. Many washing machines are installed incorrectly. And though they may work in the meantime, such washing machines run high risks of developing faults which can then lead to the foul smell. This is why installing a washing machine on one's own is not entirely advised. Faults may occur as a result of such installation. Some professionals deal with washing machine installation and repair. The services of such professionals should be procured to avoid any disasters.Read More: Washing Machine Smells Like Sewage
